Backstreet Boys se presentará en los VMA LA
Fuente: Fanclub Oficial BSB
Información del disco THIS IS US y NoticiasBSB - importante.
Esto fue seguido de This Is Us, I Want It That Way y STMH sencillo del nuevo álbum.

THE BACKSTREETBOYS: Are Back In Town
Giving the claim credence is the single ‘Straight Through My Heart’, a
pop song with a hook reminiscent of their past works. In this
interview, AJ McLean talks about the new single, the possible return of
Kevin Richardson and why the ‘Quit Playing Games’ video makes him
cringe.
While the new single does sound current, AJ says it feels exactly like
the monstrously-successful boy band of the nineties. “I’d use two
words: Backstreet Boys. Obviously we've worked with a current producer
so it's got an updated sound, but the one thing that we were very
adamant about, after hearing feedback from fans, was that we wanted to
go back to being us. There was a formula that worked for us and this is
exactly that,” he says.
The single was sculpted by famed Lady GaGa producer RedOne, who
surprised the Boys with three songs at the last minute. AJ says, “It
was really down to me and Nick because we're friends with a couple of
guys who work with RedOne. I kept bringing up GaGa because I have a
crush on her, so Nick called the guys we know and finally we got
through to Red. Then it sort of fell apart and didn't happen and we
lost hope. Then, just when we thought we were done making the record,
we got a phone call from our management saying Red had three amazing
songs for us. We did them and we got our first single!”
AJ reveals that the band had thought of releasing another song as the
first single, but after listening to what RedOne did with ‘Straight
Through The Heart’, they knew which was the right choice. “We had a few
options before we worked with Red, but then we heard 'Straight Through
The Heart' and knew it was meant to be. It hits the nail on the head.
It's Backstreet Boys. It's dance, it's pop, it's urban, it's current,
it's fresh, it's new. We actually had a good problem, which was having
five or six options for the single. We made this record hit for hit and
we honestly believe it's our best since Millennium,” says AJ.
The other producer who worked on the album is Max Martin, who has moved
on to bigger things since producing the early Backstreet Boys hits. AJ
says, “We met him (Max Martin) while we were touring the last record
just to see if he was even interested. Obviously he's busy with Pink
and Kelly Clarkson and people like that. He sent us a track called
'Bigger' and we loved it; it's like the new 'I Want It That Way'. He's
one of the reasons why we've had the hits that we've had.”
Fans will be surprised to know that, for this record, the Boys shed
their pop/R&B roots for a club sound. “We went into this album
wanting to do pop and R&B, which is what we're known for, but we
really pushed to have more up-tempo songs so we could bring them to the
live shows. My favourite song on the record is called 'PDA', which we
did with Kevin Borg, who's the Black Eyed Peas' musical director. It's
pretty awesome, definitely a club record. Before we got with RedOne, it
was looking like the first single, so for all we know it could be the
second!” he said.
Kevin Richardson quit the group before the release of Unbreakable.
AJ has gotten over the fact that he’s out of the group, but says that
it is possible that he will make a comeback with the next record.
“Definitely easier. It's been almost four years now. What was a little
bit nerve-wracking is that this record is exactly what Kevin wanted us
to do before he left. He heard some of the songs when we were demoing
stuff and he loved it. We're still contracted for one more record, so
hopefully, maybe, he'll be back for the last one. That would be pretty
awesome! Since he left, we've told him the door is always open. He's
family.”
Going back to the old days, AJ says that watching some of the old
videos can be embarrassing, especially ‘Quit Playing Games With My
Heart’. He says, “Oh dear God! Some of them we can live without! Not
the video, but the wardrobe, which only really made sense in that time
and era. Hands down the worst of the worst was 'Quit Playing Games'. We
were in the rain with fluorescent shirts showing our pecs and stuff.”

THE BACKSTREETBOYS: So... About The Backstreet Boys
... where I sat next to the head of promotion for Jive Records... a man I've known for a long time, through many battles, who I consider to be a colleague but when we break it all down, he's a friend for 10 years at least... give or take a year or two.
Anyway, we spoke briefly about the 'boys... and it made me think of some stuff on the way home.
That's where you come in.
If I could talk to one of them about anything related to music, life and their career... who would you want me to talk to?
And since I think it's important to use whatever position this life and career afford me for you, what would YOU have me ask them?
Let me know your thoughts... and then, I'll ask.
I'm pretty sure they'll let me do it.
Leave your thoughts as comments here. I'll report back with more tomorrow...

THE BACKSTREET BOYS: Backstreet’s Back!
28 September 2009

The American boy band, best known for hits such as Everybody (Backstreet’s Back), As Long As You Love Me and I Want It That Way, will play their first ever Middle East concert at The Palladium on Thursday, December 17.
Promoter AEG Live made the announcement yesterday, as the four-piece prepare to release their new album This Is Us on Tuesday October 6. The Backstreet Boys are officially the best-selling boy band of all time, with international sales of more than 100 million units.
Tickets are yet to go on sale; AEG Live has said they will be available soon, and that fans of the band should keep checking www.backstreetboysdubai.com and www.aegliveme.com for updates.
This will be just one of the many big-scale musical events to hit the UAE this winter. Indie giants The Killers will head to these shores to play Abu Dhabi at an as-yet unspecified location on Tuesday December 8.
Meanwhile a top-notch line-up of stars will be announced tomorrow for the inaugural Formula One Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. A bevy of world-famous artists has been slated to appear at the Yas Marina circuit from Thursday October 29, with rumours that everyone from Beyonce Knowles to Aerosmith will perform.

THE BACKSTREET BOYS: Turn Back The Clock
Within hours of the concert being announced yesterday, Backstreet Boys websites were flooded with messages from fans who have waited for years to hear the band perform in the UAE. The show will be held at The Palladium, a Dh220 million (US$60m) facility that opened this year in Dubai Media City.
“We were experimenting with new sounds for the last two albums, but we are a pop band,” said Brian Littrell, speaking in Singapore where the band is playing during the city’s Formula One Grand Prix weekend.
“When we did those two albums we thought we were a pop rock band, but pop is what we hark back to. This time, we made a conscious effort to go back to being ourselves.”
“We would have fans coming up to us at gigs in Las Vegas and Tokyo saying, ‘We live in Dubai, when are you going to come to visit us?’” he said.
“Well, we’re coming now. One thing we do know about our fans in the UAE is that they are very loyal and follow us around the world, so we’re expecting a great night. It is going to be quite a spectacle. We are going to have a light show, eight dancers on stage and great tracks.”
“We are excited to finally be seeing our fans in the UAE. It is going to be a joyous occasion and we cannot wait.”
The band have come a long way since being plucked from obscurity in 1993 by the pop impresario Lou Pearlman, who later parted company with the group on acrimonious terms.
The band was whittled down to four members when Kevin Richardson quit three years ago to spend time with his family, leaving Littrell, 34, Carter, 29, Howie Dorough, 36, and AJ McLean, 31.
But despite their current collective age of 130 and several breaks in their performing career, they can still boast of being one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
Along the way, they set numerous records. Millennium was the best-selling album of 1999, selling nearly 10 million copies and earning five Grammy nominations and providing Top 40 singles. It also set a record for the most albums sold internationally in one week (2.2 million) and was certified platinum in 45 countries.
Since then, Littrell has undergone open-heart surgery and found God, McLean confessed his addiction to drugs and alcohol on the Oprah Winfrey show, and the band had a three-year hiatus from 2002 to 2005 when Carter embarked on an unsuccessful solo career.
The Backstreet Boys came back with a radically new sound with the albums Never Gone in 2005 and Unbreakable in 2007, which were panned by critics, with Rolling Stone magazine giving the earlier album only one star.
Their current European tour, which precedes the Dubai show, features music that gets back to those pop roots. It includes music from their seventh and soon-to-be-released album This Is Us. One of the new tracks, Straight Through My Heart, has already received multiple plays on local radio stations.
In addition to the pop sounds, the Dubai concert would include some Eurodance and rhythm-and-blues numbers, he said. He expected the audience to be “a mixture of our older fans and some new ones”.
The group’s entourage now includes two new recruits who could aptly be described as boys Littrell’s six-year-old son Baylee and Dorough’s five-month-old son James.
“It is a lot to ask of a six-year-old, but he is a big fan,” Littrell said. “He knows all the hits and loves the new record. In fact, he knows all the words to the track Bigger on the new album so I am sure it is going to be a hit.”
And would the band ever consider changing its name? The boyish good looks and cheeky grins that turned them into stars may still be there, but so are the creeping lines that give away their maturity.

THE BACKSTREET BOYS: Back With Their 7th Album
perform at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, it is clear the boys are
all men now.
After being in the business for 16 and a half years, the Backstreet
Boys have returned with their 7th album entitled, "This Is Us". The
album features songs with upbeat music, like their latest single
"Straight Through My Heart".
The Backstreet Boys held their first Asian album preview here in Singapore recently.
Brian Littrell said: "It's funny because Singapore rates up there
with New York, LA and London, as well as Tokyo. We made music for music
lovers, they're from eight to 80 years old – they don't have to be
teenage girls, they don't have to be teenage guys, they don't have to
be young, they don't have to be old. It's just people who enjoy music,
that's why we make music because we are passionate about it."
Despite their fame, the boys said they have dreams and aspirations, just like anyone else.
"Acting for me – that's how I started in this business, it was
through theatre and stuff so I'm still waiting to do Broadway, at least
once in my life. I would love to do Broadway, preferably Phantom of the
Opera. But I'll take whatever – Chicago, Hairspray. I just want to do
Broadway!" said AJ McLean.
When asked which song they wished they had composed, Howie Dorough
said: "I'd probably pick Michael Jackson's Thriller because to keep it
real, those writers are making bank! They're making money! They don't
have to work no more and that would be nice!"
But just what keeps the Backstreet Boys going after all these years?
Nick Carter said: "I think the Backstreet Boys continue on because
we realised that there's only a certain amount of time that we can do
this. We feel like we can continue this forever, but we're always
fighting, we're pushing against the grain so to speak, so I think our
inspiration is to defy the odds."
The Backstreet Boys will return for their world tour early next year.

#1: WHAT HAS TO BE IN YOUR FRIDGE AT ALL TIMES?
Nick Carter says: I like hummus. I like ice cream. I gotta have ice cream in my fridge.
#2: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SNEAKER OF ALL TIME?
Nick Carter says: My favorite sneaker of all time is probably the patent-leather Michael Jordan. What series was that?
Complex: The XIs?
Nick Carter says: Yeah. They’re the ones with the…you know, they came all the way around.
#3: WHAT’S THE MOST EMBARRASSING PIECE OF CLOTHING YOU’VE EVER WORN?
Nick Carter says:
My mom made me wear this one shirt that was like see-through and
fishnet. It was during my solo tour, I didn’t know how to ing dress,
and I wore this fishnet shirt thing and I was pretty overweight at the
time. I think that’s the most embarrassing thing I ever wore.
#4: IF YOU HAD A WEEK HOLIDAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
Nick Carter says: I would go on a boat. Go fishing, scuba diving. Maybe go sailing out to the Catalina area.
#5: WHEN’S THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
Nick Carter says: I probably cried when my grandmother passed away, which was years ago.
#6: WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER ONE DEAL-BREAKER FOR A GIRLFRIEND?
Nick Carter says: Deal-breaker would be if she has hairy armpits.
Complex: Wow that was a fast answer. You must have had a bad experience.
Nick Carter says: Yeah, we went over to Europe a lot when I was younger.
#7: WHAT’S THE WORST WAY YOU’VE BROKEN UP WITH SOMEONE?
Nick Carter says: I walked out of an apartment we were living in and left her there.
Complex: Damn! We thought we were cold-blooded.
BONUS QUESTIONS:
Complex: What can we expect from the new album?
Nick Carter:
The new album is packed full of huge producers and writers. Bigger than
we’ve worked with in a long time—Ryan Tedder, T-Pain, all sorts of
crazy. And it’s got a lot of dance music on it. It’s really current,
but it’s us. It’s who we are. It’s got a lot of pop and R&B
influence.
Complex: Is there a particular track that you’re excited about?
Nick Carter:
I love “This Is Us.” That’s my favorite track. It was produced by Jim
Jonsin and it’s so awesome. I call it the new “I Want It That Way.”
Complex: What do you like to wear when you go out on the town?
Nick Carter:
I love to wear cool kicks. And maybe a blazer and a dress shirt. But I
like to dress casual, but still cool. I like V-necks now.
