Video y saludo a regias Monterrey, México

NEW AJ McLean Interview [15 October 09] About Kevin R., their Fans and the new BSB Album

Translation
Backstreet Boys: Back with five members?
Since 16 years the Backstreet Boys break the hearts of girls and created legendary songs like 'I want it that way'. The Boys will introduce their new Album in november in Bamberg - Germany. x-bay-Maker Felicitas Wilke got the chance to talk with Band member AJ - exactly 10 minutes. This time was fixed by the record company. Stars are stars.
x-bay: Earlier this month your new album 'This is us' was released. What can we expect?
AJ: You can expect an awesome album, song for song. We're very proud of it. It shows who we are and it's a mix of Pop and R'n'B. In a way it brings us back to the roots.
x-bay: Kevin left the band 3 years ago. Have you adapt to work without him?
AJ: At the beginning it was very new for us just being 4. But now that's the new face of the Band. All doors are open for Kevin if he wants to come back to the group. Who knows... he could come back.
x-bay: Does he have any plans to become a Backstreet Boy again?
AJ: I won't give a comment to this matter. Currently he is doing his own business. But I can see that his eyes are sparkle. Maybe he's thinking about to come back.
x-bay: The Backstreet Boys exist since 1993. Many girls, including me, have grown up with you. Don't you think sometimes - We're done?
AJ: No. As long as we take pleasure in doing music and as long as our fans want to hear our music we definately don't stop. It's our passion and our life.
x-bay: When you've started your fans were kids and teenagers. Now they've grown up. Are they faithful to you or do you get new fans?
AJ: It's a mix of both. Some of the fans who were with us from the very beginning take their own children with them to concerts. A new generation of Backstreet Boys fans has arisen. But there are also new fans who didn't like us before or kept it a secret. I would say that our music is for every age class and is compatible with everyone's taste in music.
x-bay: In Germany you're successful and well-known since the mid 90's. Did you ever learned a little German after your many visits?
AJ: We've learnded just a little so we are able to get through standard situations. But it's very helpful that most Fans speak English. But we can order our food in German.
x-bay: In your band history you've done many long breaks. What did you enjoy the most in those breaks?
AJ: Well... we all have families. Some of us are also married and have children. We were able to spend time with them or make a journey. But there's a point for all of us where we miss being on stage. But the breaks are important because they allow us to live a normal life for some months and they bring us also down to earth. After these breaks we are able again being the Backstreet Boys.
x-bay: Where are you right now?
AJ: Right now I'm in Los Angeles , lying in my bed. But I have to get up because I have to go to the dance rehearsal. This is our last week before we set off for our tour.

THE BACKSTREETBOYS: From Backstreet Boys To Men
The Backstreet Boys are back… again, with a new album and tour after their 2007 record Unbreakable was released with more of a whimper rather than a bang.
“That’s right, we say don’t call it a comeback,” Howie tells Reuters.
“But I think this is going to be a record that people hear.
“Our last two were great but came after we took a break and there was a bit of a backlash. People needed a bit of a break from the Backstreet Boys. The last two records were a good rebuilding process and took us to this point.”
In their 17-year history, the BBs have had their fair share of turmoil: AJ McLean went to rehab for alcohol and drug addiction in 2001 and Nick Carter was the star of the E! reality show House of Carters.
Meanwhile, Brian Littrell’s 7-year-old son Baylee has been diagnosed with the heart condition Kawasaki Syndrome, and Howie lost his sister Caroline Dorough-Cochran to Lupus in 1998 when she was 37.
The fifth member of the band, Kevin Richardson, left in 2006.
“We have grown into the adults we are now — the fathers, the friends, the entertainers that we are now and the career-minded people that we are.”
And the music? “We have a lot more to write about now with the personal experiences that have happened along the way,” says Howie.
“We have also become more seasoned as entertainers. It has opened our eyes and our minds. We’re no longer just entertainers but also businessmen and we are finding a healthy balance of career and families.”
And despite being well into their thirties, these men have no need to change their name.
“Boys to us has never been an age thing,” insists Howie. “If the Beastie Boys and the Beach Boys and Pet Shop Boys can stay boys, so can we.”

Howie Dorough, 36, says the band has high hopes for its new album This Is Us, which was released last week. But for God’s sake, don’t call it a comeback!
“That’s right, we say don’t call it a comeback,” Howie tells Reuters.

BRIAN LITTRELL: This Is Us Embraces 'Dirty South Sound'
The Backstreet Boys are back. And on their latest album, This Is Us, the guys are declaring their return to the sound that made them famous back in the late '90s.
Gone are the adult-contemporary touches they've favored in recent years. It's back to the pulsating beats and dance-music vibe. And Brian Littrell thinks now is the perfect time for the guys to show the world they still have what it takes.
"I think This Is Us is definitely the Backstreet Boys being comfortable with who we are," he told MTV News about the album, which dropped last week. "If you go back to 1995 and '96, when we first started releasing records, the thing is, those sounds that we were using then are actually back in style. The live-band sound is away. The techno drums, the Euro dance sound has taken over the airwaves with the Lady Gagas."
But Littrell is quick to point out that the guys aren't just jumping on the bandwagon of Top 40 trends. "We've been doing it for a long time," he said. "When we went back in the studio, the reason we went with this direction was we wanted to be able to dance onstage. We wanted to move around."
Since the guys have been together for so long, Littrell said critics and fans need to realize the group has to grow up. "When we do a record like This Is Us and it turned heads a little bit, like, 'Wow, it's edgier. It's different,' " Littrell said. "My thing is, back up 15 years ago, 'cause it sounds like what we were doing 15 years ago. It has a little more urban feel to it. Then again, we have to go back to our roots. We were all a bunch of Justin Timberlakes listening to R&B music before there was Justin Timberlake."
For the album, the boys hooked up with longtime collaborator Max Martin, as well as a few new faces, like Lady Gaga producer RedOne, T-Pain and Ryan Tedder.
"Everybody has us trapped in a box," he said. "Working with a guy like T-Pain, you have no choice but to get an R&B, hip-hop vibe, which is what we wanted to do. It's not just because T-Pain is T-Pain. We're fans as well, even though we're entertainers. We pulled in the Jim Johnsons, who did T.I.'s 'Whatever You Like' and Soulja Boy, what we call that dirty South sound."
For Littrell's favorite track on the album, the midtempo love ballad "Undone," the guys hooked up with OneRepublic frontman Tedder. "You can play it for anybody and you wouldn't know that it's us," he said. "That's when the song sells itself."

Interesting, the title above is not that one that was mentioned before, so it might be another working title.
I'll check more info, but I'm pretty sure the screening is part of the AFM, the independent film distributors Expo/Convention, which is held in Santa Monica. I'm pretty sure Fairmont refers to the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica. If you've read my posts about it in the past, you know it's the same festival where "The Hallowed" premiered in 2004. If the "rules" are the same as back then, the screening is only open to Expo attendees, and possibly residents of Santa Monica. I'll try to get more info about how/if the general public can attend.
... also, the guys will be touring in Europe, so Nick will not be attending the premiere.

AJ MCLEAN: Release Solo Album
The Backstreet Boys have just recently released their newest single “Straight Through My Heart” and now one of the Boys is hoping to branch out on his own. AJ McLean says that he’s been working on his solo effort for four years now! Can you believe that?!
The
He continues explaining, "We finished [the new Backstreet Boys] record about three weeks ago, so now I’m wrapping up on my record. The album will be out in November, the single will be out in September but it won’t hit you guys until spring next year."
AJ says that his fellow Backstreet Boys have been supporting him and describes the album as an "amazing record." "It’s a pretty awesome record and I’m really proud of it. I wrote the majority of the record along with some amazing writers and it’s kind of me introducing me to the world as myself."
He’s been working with JC Chasez and of course Ryan Tedder (who isn’t working with him lately?) on this new album, which he is expecting to release later this year. You guys looking forward to hearing what the album sounds like?!

THE BACKSTREETBOYS: 'Backstreet's Back' With 7th Album, Tour, And A 'Mature' Sound
Back in the day, the Backstreet Boys blazed the boy band trail. Nick Carter and his 4 bandmates faced crowds of screaming teen girls (kind of like the swarms of ladies who follow Robert Pattinson's every move today) and sold over 100 million albums. But, the musicians eventually got brushed aside and fell out of the spotlight. A couple rehab trips, babies, and break-ups later, Howie Dorough claims the band's 7th album This is Us is going to put them back on the map. And, if not, they're touring the map, anyway.
The group of 4 will go on the road at the end of the month (Kevin Richardson left the group a few years ago to start a family) and they've all apparently grown up a lot since hits like "I'll Never Break Your Heart" from the late '90s. It's probably about time, but we'll always have a soft spot for those 6th grade dance memories they made for us.
Dorough said in a Reuters interview, "We have grown into the adults we are now -- the fathers, the friends, the entertainers that we are now and the career minded people that we are."
Despite claiming they're not the same girl-crazed music makers they once were, they're still fine with being called "boys." "Backstreet Men" does sound a little off, for sure. Dorough said: "Boys to us has never been an age thing. If the Beastie Boys and the Beach Boys and Pet Shop Boys can stay boys, so can we."
The album debuted last week at #10 on the charts.

BRIAN LITTRELL: 'A Lot Better' After Swine Flu
'I am 100 percent back up to par,' he tells MTV News.
"I am a lot better than I was last week. We are better now," he told MTV News on Wednesday (October 14). "I still have a little lingering cough, but at the same time, I am 100 percent back up to par. I saw [the other guys] yesterday at rehearsal, and everyone looked pretty healthy."
Littrell was busy with the band in Japan when he realized he might need to see a doctor. "I was very surprised. It happened so fast that I had no time to really react to it," he said of getting sick. "With the normal flu, you have an onset of days, where you know something is wrong. ... I didn't really feel bad."
Now that Littrell has put the flu behind him, the Backstreet Boys are hard at work rehearsing for their tour, which kicks off later this month.
"I've had the flu before, obviously," Littrell said. "When I do get sick, my wife says I'm not a good sick patient, 'cause I don't let people help me a lot. ... I started my antibiotics Sunday evening. The doctor saw me every day up until Wednesday. Again, we caught it right at the very beginning, as early as my body would tell that I have the swine flu."
Littrell was surprised he got sick because he makes his health a priority. "It happened so fast. I really had no warning signs," he said. "I pride myself on taking care of myself. I go and get sick, and the guys are going out at night and being out all night, and I'm thinking, 'I was being a good boy, and I go and get sick.' "

Last week, the Backstreet Boys had to sideline plans to promote their latest album, This Is Us, after Brian Littrell was diagnosed with swine flu. But 10 days after that diagnosis, Littrell said his health has improved and he's ready to get the show back on the road.
"I am a lot better than I was last week. We are better now," he told MTV News on Wednesday (October 14). "I still have a little lingering cough, but at the same time, I am 100 percent back up to par. I saw [the other guys] yesterday at rehearsal, and everyone looked pretty healthy."

THE BACKSTREETBOYS: Backstreet's Back With 'This Is Us'

17
years after their formation, one of the world's original boybands, the
Backstreet Boys are set to release their seventh studio album, This Is
Us.
This time, the boys have gone back to their 90's roots of classic, dance-driven pop.
While
some critics have not been particularly kind to the new album, some
calling it boring and uneventful - the fans will be the judge, after
sending their 2006 album Never Gone, to number 3 on the US charts.

HOWIE DOROUGH: A Minute With Howie
The Backstreet Boys began as a group of wide-eyed teenagers but 16
years later, after battles with drug addiction and the loss of loved
ones, believe their seventh album shows they have matured.
Q: Your sister Caroline Dorough-Cochran died in 1998 of Lupus aged 37 and you set up a foundation to raise money for this.
A: "We all have always believed in giving things to the man above. I
try to give back. We are so blessed as artists and entertainers and we
should use our powers to raise awareness of things where we can."

Dorough spoke to Reuters about the band and new album:
Q: So it's not a comeback?
A: "That's right, we say don't call it a comeback. But I think this
is going to be a record that people hear. Our last two were great but
came after we took a break and there was a bit of a backlash. People
needed a bit of a break from the Backstreet Boys. The last two records
were a good rebuilding process and taken us to this point."

Q: It's been 17 years since you started out together. Have you all changed?
A: "No, time has not changed us but it has made us grow. We have
grown into the adults we are now -- the fathers, the friends, the
entertainers that we are now and the career minded people that we are.
There have been bumps but everything has happened for a reason -- maybe
apart from the loss of some loved ones -- and we have always tried to
find a positive from it."

Q: Have these experiences over the years changed your music?
A: "It has affected our music. We have a lot more to write about now
with the personal experiences that have happened along the way. We have
also become more seasoned as entertainers. It has opened our eyes and
our minds. We're no longer just entertainers but also businessmen and
we are finding a healthy balance of career and families."

Q: You began as boys but have become men. Any plans to change the band's name?
A: "Boys to us has never been an age thing. If the Beastie Boys and the Beach Boys and Pet Shop Boys can stay boys, so can we."
Q: You all have other projects on the side of the band with solo
records and you also co-manager other singers. Does that cause any
conflict?

conflict?
A: "For me I am into having my hands in a bunch of different things.
I am a Leo and I love to be active and creative. We all came from
individual backgrounds and we don't want to lose our identities so we
allow ourselves to do other projects on the side. We all try to make
sure the Backstreet Boys takes the main role."

AJ MCLEAN: New Info About Solo Album ...
AJ has
already finished the recording of the album in May. The CD will surely
be promoted (the next AJ's tour is in November), the album's cover will
be created by Tyler Shanks. AJ will suppousedly be dressed in a dress
if he picks the RMWD title (RMWD-REAL MEN WEAR DRESSES). If he picks
other title (KINKY ADVICE), he will be naked (on the cover). Obviously,
AJ McLean wants to get attention (he always wanted to be #1).
The
following people worked with AJ on the CD: JC Chasez, Mark Hudson (he's
a musical legend. worked with Aerosmith and Ringo Starr from the
Beatles), Ryan Teddler (from One Republic).
The album is
suppoused to be set in 'funky' style/genre (great for me!!!), there
will be ballads on the CD. AJ's new style was praised by Time's music
critic Sarah Tomlinson.
